For now, this library can only serve a few dozen people at a time in the Greater Seattle Area. At most 2-3 pickups per day. The goal is to provide a local service expanding access to books that help us resist oppression and heal our communities. Homeless, disabled, and BIPOC folks are prioritized when conflicts arise, especially individuals with intersectional experiences.
An experiment in adaptation – the creator of this library was laid off due to Covid-19. This library is the result.
The Process:
Books can be checked out by reaching out via the “Contact Us” option on this website or commenting/messaging within the Facebook group. We will need to create a dialogue to coordinate pickup/dropoff – this is accomplished via Facebook messenger, or via email. If you prefer phone communication, please include that information when you request a book. Time frame from request to book in hand is still being evaluated – aiming for ASAP!
Books are distributed on a first-come first-serve basis, with priority given to BIPOC, homeless, and disabled members of the community, especially intersectional folks. Most books will be picked up and dropped off just off the 107 bus line in South Seattle, but limited delivery/pickup service is available within the Greater Seattle Area. No contact methods will be used for 99% of book transfers, by means of book lockers, a return drop box, and/or contact-less delivery.
This library will never pursue someone for failure to return a book, or damage to a book. That being said, these books are going into the community as a service, and we request that everyone handle them with care. Once they are no longer in active use with you, please return them so that other people can check them out.

There are so many ways to support each other…
Why this one?
Mutual aid and radical resistance are going to get us through this.
We are living through a time when being active could mean encountering contagion. When we need to collaborate to change the world, but we can’t meet at the public library. When control of information allows our leaders to control their own accountability.
These books are for these times – bypassing group gatherings to share knowledge and hope for the future.
Maybe even create a bit of spread out community in our neighborhoods.
Let’s collaborate, people.
We don’t have any testimonials yet. We are new.
Let us know how we can become amazing for this community.
